Michelle Writes a Novel
Brief: Build a social media following to assist in getting my historical thriller novel published.
Insight: By sharing my journey to getting published online, I’ll have created a built-in audience that feels part of my experience as they have been following along.
Action: I created social profiles for Instagram, TikTok, Threads, and Twitter / X. I chose these channels because they have strong book followings (Bookstagram, BookTok, Threads-TBD, and the Literary Agent Community on Twitter / X, respectively).
The focus for Instagram was to be more relatable to my fellow authors and writers, while also capturing the attention of an audience that may be interested in my novel, a historical action-adventure thriller with a female lead.

TikTok
Because TikTok is a much faster-paced platform, posts have been chosen to spark conversation with “POV” prompts, share information on how I wrote the novel, give tips for other authors/writers, and capitalize on trending edits or sounds.

Threads
Threads has proven to be a robust platform for authors and book lovers to connect. Posts have been chosen to spark conversation with fellow authors or to attract potential readers. I share information on how I wrote the novel, quotes, give tips for other authors, and capitalize on trends that have the potential to attract my ideal audience.

Creating AI Artwork
As it is difficult to find artwork that elicits the feeling of my historical thriller, I turned to AI software to fill this gap. By investing time in learning Leonardo.ai, I was able to create very realistic renderings of my characters and locations to be used across social media. I even stitched some of them together to create group shots of characters with Canva.
